Contemporary Show Garden, Dig The City ~ 2013

I was approached to submit a garden design for the 'Dig The City' Garden Festival in Manchester City Centre.

I designed this garden for an imaginary client, a professional couple, who wanted an urban courtyard or terrace garden which was stylish, modern and full of colour, yet easy to maintain.

The concept includes 'zoned' areas of bamboo decking and anthracite porcelain paving which creates interest to the surface pattern and walkways through the space. There is a vertical feature made from the bamboo decking and rusted rebar which can be used for productive gardening of herbs and salads, using recycled milk bottle cartons.
The colour scheme was rust and black, with flowers and planting to match these tones. We used copper piping to create a slatted screen and as the frame to the water feature which was made from recycled metal mesh allowed to rust.
