Modern Linear Front Garden, Stockport ~ 2017

As a garden designer, sites which have steep slopes can bring about their own unique set of challenges!

The clients of this front garden in Stockport asked me to help them solve the issue of a very steeply sloped entrance space whilst providing an area for off-street parking and creating some much needed kerb appeal.

We implemented a tiered garden using rendered walling to retain the upper section of front garden and create a stabilised gravel parking area with hidden bin store.

On the upper tier we used Brazilian grey slate paving mixed with crossing pathways in clay pavers for a modern look which worked well against the period detailing of the property. A full lighting scheme enabled not only safe orientation through the space in the evenings but also gave a dramatic look to the beautiful planting.
